My best friend's American Show Horse(half-Arab. half-Saddlebred) has a growth on her belly. It's almost between her two hindlegs. It's about the size of my fist, I guess a little bigger than a tennis ball.
Well, Jess(my friend) is concerned about it. It's been there for a few years now, and she did have a vet check it out. The vet told her that it is common for grey, Arab mares to have a growth like the one Classy has.
Sometimes it oozes a discharge and gets scabby, too. And Jess has occassionally found blood on the ground, which she assumes is from the growth because she can never find any wounds.
Does anyone know anything about this type of thing? I mean, does anyone know of other grey, Arab mares who have had this? Jess says Classy never acts like she is in pain or bothered by it, but she is still concerned. She also doesn't have alot of money to spend for tons of vet bills- when she first got it checked out, it cost her $150 just to have the vet come look! Any advice would be appreciated very much!
