OK this is for my sister(I think shes daisybear? But I can't get her account to work!). This is the possible horse that I am going to have on loan and my sister would be sharing from me. The pony is 14.2 and the jump's 75cm about 1'6 I think? I know that shes standing up in her stirrups too much and needs to move her leg forwards but can't really pin point anythign else. Maybe leaning forward too much? Anyways, She says any critique welcome. Thanks!

well, tell her that her and the horse look amazing...WOW! and to tell you the truth...I couldnt find that many things wrong except for the fact that:-
1- shes leaning forward waaaaay too much.
2- shes standing up, rather than pulling up and forward
I dont know if its just me, or are her stirrups too long?
she looks great with that horse!

no her stirrups arn't to long. if her lower leg was under her you would see that they were fine length wise.
the rider needs to wait for the jump. she has jumped WAAAY ahead and is standing straight up making it harder for both horse and rider to balance correctly. i would take her stirrups right away and make her wait for the horse a bit more. over the jump you should be more 'squating' rather then throwing your whole body at the fence.
are her hands hiding in the mane or are they hovering? they should be resting (but not leaning) on the neck. when hands tend to hover like that on the landing they also tend to come right up/back and jab the horses mouth. id rather see them resting lightly on the horses neck for a crest release.
if we were to erase the horse the rider would not be able to balance in that position on the ground. it gives you a good idea on how off balance you are when you erase the horse to look at your position.
but looking up and nice flat back :)
but its a VERY cute honost little pony there! i really like him

Shes the same height as me and those stirrups were fine for me when I jumped (unfortunatly sis and mum both totally missed me with the camera!) but yeah they do look a bit long! Maybe it cos of the funny angle he legs are at?
I showed her your post and shes sitting here going haha I look better on your horse than you :( Ah well, I put it down to my fabulous photograohy skills :D
Thanks for the critique I think you made her day!

they look long to me.... she need something to push her bum up and back, it looks like they are too long so they only way she can go is forward and because she's gone forward her leg has swang back, her hand also look very stiff and aint giving much, which is fine at the moment where the jumps are small but when her body is further back and the jumps are bigger she will need to give more, but it great that she is looking up and ahead.

@ jumpingislife
I said she'd fall of he hadn't jumped it! lol She says her hands were resting on his neck but she could just be saying that ;)
He's a great pony if you push him on, otherwise he like to charge through the jump! :o I'm so annoyed that I didn't get any pics of me jumping him, but my Mum and sis camera skills are kind of on the non existent side :D

My impression was similar to what JumpingIsLife mentioned. You look like you anticipated the jump and tried to make a big movement rather than following him over, which put your weight well ahead of his. The pony is very cute and is giving you a nice jump anyway, but it will help to think about keeping your leg under you and waiting for him to jump.
The pony is very cute!

but as soon as i shorten my stuirrups i found it a lot easier to put my bum back in the saddle.....

my boss had a lesson with yogi brieizner a few days ago, he teaches all the olypic eventing teams and she ask him how she could get my lower leg to stop swinging back on the flat and he said they he's had that problem with a lot of people and he would tie a rope from one foot to the other round the front of the horse, so if one leg went back the other had to go forward! haha i thought that was funny

I have to agree with Lynz it is you stirrup length..... dont take it personally much easier to correct than if it was your leg position.
To correct the going forward tooooo soon ........ put them on the lunge.... lunge over jumps with her eyes closed...... makes you have to feel your horse and go with them.
Haa haa lynz I have that prob on the flat too  such a nightmare isnt it..... such a bad habit
