Anyone know anything about this condition, or who has a horse/pony with it? We have a tentative diagnosis on Benny and I am feeling very sorry for Hannah at the moment 'cos the prognosis doesn't look too good.

Sorry I've never heard of it. What exactly does it mean, and what are his symptoms?

Hope someone is more helpful and things turn out well for Benny, you and Hannah.

Yes, I've got a mare with this condition, it is much worse when she is restricted. If she is out 24/7 it is no hassle. It can improve with light exercise.

Dizzy - it's a partial dislocation of one knee that 'rights' itself almost immediately. It looks as though the leg is sinking, is the best way I can describe it. You only see it when going from trot to walk on very soft ground, on a circle.

Thanks Wally. I feel better already. At the moment B. is out during the day and in at night. In winter they get turnout onto strawed standing areas if fields too wet. If I had my way he'd be at grass 24/7 but he's at livery so options limited. What I shall do is just mention 'turnout' innocently to the vet! We are continuing light exercise (walking mostly). He's not in any pain and no sign of the dislocation when going straight, only if I take him in the sand school on the lunge and work him - so no schooling (which is a problem as he hots up!). X-rays next, then we'll see.
