View Full Version : Joints rubbing?

This is a bit weird to describe.

I have a yearling who, sometimes when he runs, you almost hear a whooshing noise. It's not a clicking at all, so I don't think it's stifles.

Some people have told me that its his joints rubbing together, others have said that its absolutely nothing and most horses get it.

He isn't lame at all; no heat, no stiffness, nothing but he's been doing this for months, any ideas?

Are you sure it's not his sheath? Male horses often make a sort of whooshing, whooping or almost farting sort of sound from their sheath when air gets trapped in or forced in their around a gummed up or slightly dirty sheath.

You'd need to describe the 'whooshing' in more detail before we could even guess :D Is it in time with his stride, does it sound like an air-like sound, or like something rubbing on something else, is it coming from the back\front?

Hrmm..I wonder if it is his sheath, now that you mention it LOL

It is in time with his stride, coming from the hind end, and you can really hear it at the trot
