Hi been away for almost a week and I've missed this forum! Anyway to my question.

My saddle fitter told me I need to use a wool numnah as a saddle cloth just isn't thick enough and it was constanly moving. I am using a fleece numnah at the moment as wool is expensive but I have seen what I'll call a half numnah don't know if that's right. It's like a fleece numnah just in the shape of the seat. Do you think I would be able to use this on top of a saddle cloth? My horse is very thin skinned and sensitive do you think this will provide alot of comfort? Also the fleece numnah I'm using is coving around a bit too.

Thanks everyone :)

I recently started using sheepskin saddle pad, also a form of half-numnah. If before it I was fighting strange bumps on my horse's back with all possible means, then now they are gone totally, the back is clean as it could be... and it it so comfortable. personally I use it on top of the saddle cloth, functioning as a saddle pad.

You can use a half-pad (i.e., half-numnah) alone or in combination with another pad. However, if you use it with another pad (which can help to keep the saddle flaps clean) be sure that you use a pad thin enough that it isn't effecting the fit of the saddle. A therapeutic half-pad in combination with a regular pad can add a great deal of bulk.
