I managed rising trot and even got the rhythm today! Can't tell you how much it's boosted my confidence, and is undoubtedly because of you guys here! :D Thank you!

I've a 10 day gap till my next lesson now so hoping I don't lose the knack! Need to work on keeping it going of course and getting it from the v.start as I bounce for the first couple of steps.

All in all though I'm a chuffed new rider today! :D

Aww, congrats! You wouldn't believe how hard it is for some riders to get the idea of the rising trot, so you SHOULD be proud

Congratulations! Gosh I'm so jealous. I have the worst time with rising trot but it's nice to hear that somebody's actually doing it right.

Been taking lessons for 5 months or so and every now and then I get rising trot spot on..then it goes again :( Still having trouble keeping a good leg contact throughout! As for those diagonals...I'm always on the wrong one. So congratulations on doing so well :D As for the gap till your next lesson, don't worry..each time out is different, that's what makes riding fun!!

Thanks everyone! I'm far from perfect, or able to maintain it! But fingers x'd it gets better.
My RI pointed out when I had it right and there is a definate time to sit back down so I watch for that. :o

Can't wait for my next ride!
Riding is definately addictive! :D

It's amazing how it just 'clicks' isn't it? It's amazing you got the rythm so quickly! :p And don't worry if next lesson you can't seem to get it again-it happened to me.

And isn't it sooooooo much more comfortable when you get the rhythm right? Now you can start to learn the sitting trot..... LOL ;)

hehe one step at a time! keep thinking yesterday was a fluke! :D

Not sure exactly what a sitting trot is either! I've read the instructions but have no idea what it looks like! Gotta work on not leaning forward and my heels too....
I'm just enjoying getting on a horse, moving, trotting and not feeling scared! :p

Congratulations! I remember when i was still learning to trot, it was a nightmere. As time goes on you get better and better, soon you'll be Cantering! Boy is that fun. the better you get in the trot the more your cofidence will go up!! :D

Rising trot........if you are turning left do you follow the action of the outside leg (right leg) or the inside leg (left leg)? Can someone go over the if the leg is out you rise/sit with me too? I have got the rhythm of rising trot and are using the ponies energy to get me up and im controlling my fall......BUT the outdoor school slopes so when we go down the slope the trot gets so fast I can't keep up.....Any tips?

Really glad it helped! ;) It did help with me too... :D

I'm sure the uneven surface will give you a headstart when it comes to real slopes then! me.. I'll likely end up in front of the horse! hehe

One step at a time I say... :p Took another step today, as had my 4th lesson - went well, Erin (my 6 year old) rode with me, she's in the early stages of learning rising trot and i think it helped to 'copy' mum! Bless... she'll be better than me soon enough! :)
