Just wondering what they are like really. Still having problems getting a saddle for my mare which is within my budget.
Any comments anyone?

I have one. Its really comfy and has been on all of my horses at one point. To give you and idea as to what it fits here my lot.
Sports horse mare- she has high wither and muscle atrophy, but she is also wide, I use a prolite riser on top of a numnah with her. She used to be a right cow to tack up trying to run off and crush you but now she super and stands perfectly still, she also rears, but since using the Trekker this had reduced to the fact that I rode her in teh field the other day (usually the worst place) and she was an angel, no sign she might do anything. PLus she also rolled on her saddle when I got off so the Trekker is definatly durable (no nothing on it apart from some dirt), the same saddle has also been under this horses stomach while she was galloping madly around the field- still no marks on it (this was the second time with the sadle as she wasnt quite convinced it wasnt a treed one lol)
Hw Cob- He is very wide and we were fed up of finding treed saddles to fit and so used the Trekker on him. We used it with the pomell to start with and then he got white marks either side of his withers, so we took the block out and stuffed the pomell. He was alot better then and we only had the occasional slip (doesnt slip at all on Amber, even without a breastplate) but a breastplate stopped it. We decided it wasnt the best for teaching my mom schooling on, and it was very wide so bought him an Ansur dressage instead.
Section a- She was wearing it (with the pomell) until monday when we got her new saddle. The Trekker was fine on her, even tho the girth straps went down to her knees, she didnt have a problem with it and it was fine for riding her in. Didnt slip at all and we didnt use a breastplate. We only got her a new saddle because I couldnt resist it and the Trekker was a big too long for her.
Tb ex racer- when I first got Maddie I used this saddle on her and as with Amber used a prolite riser on top of a numnah. Didnt slip at all, Maddie has very very high withers and she was very thin when I got her and hte saddle was fine. I even took it to test ride her in for the second time.
I took this saddle to work with me and used it on lots of ex racehorses, all with different backs and temperments, didnt have a problem with any of them and even one horse who had the previous day had a very good rider off twice in one session, and she behaved like a lamb and was falling asleep while I sat on her and talked :D

Hon is very wide and has a knack of pushing/pulling the saddle forwards slightly so it is uncomfy for her. I have also had problems with saddles slipping in the past. Do you think the Trekker would do the same?

I had terrible slipping with Murphy my wide cob, I dont think the saddles have gone forward tho- maybe the thorowgood we had.
But the saddle slipped a bit till it moulded, and even then with a hunting breastplate on it didnt move. My mom has dropped her whip (and her phone) when out hacking numerous times and has had to get back on when she had the Trekker, she used a sirrup mount thing and didnt really have a problem, plus my mom isn the most athletic of creatures. :D
One thing tho is that the Trekker isnt idealy suited to lots of schooling, I found it ok, but not ideal for practising lots of dressage in, but I have jumped in it and thought about taking it , but the Bf refused to ride in it, lol.
I have never had any problems hacking in it, its soo comfy and ive sat beig bolted with and quite a few rears, and jumping and dodging puddles in it, my Tb jogs and I felt really secure in it.

I had one and they aren't bad. The only thing I didn't like was that they don't give enough wither clearance. The arch is high enough but the material pulls across their withers, I solved this by stuffing my pommel and using a front riser!
Used on a 12.2hh very round pony and never had any serious slipping problems as long as the girth was tight!

Hmmmmm...I might be brave and order one on trial then...
I suppose I'll never know unless I try!

I have a trekker, personally I quite like it. Some people do some don't though I have not met a horse yet that didn't. It is a very different feel. When I put it on Beryl it does slip a bit when you first get on put beds down and is ok after about 5-10 mins.
You aren't that far from me if you want to come and try mine to see if you like it or not.
