We have a blackthorn hedge down one side of the field (rented field, not ours), and it keeps trying to colonise the field ... My husband and son spent a long time in the Easter holidays digging it out with a ragfork, but now it's coming back, although the bushes are much smaller.
The field owner sometimes comes and cuts it down with his tractor, but he leaves it lying there, so we have to pick it up, which is harder work than cutting it in the first place.
Would strimming it help? Would it leave dangerous spikes which would hurt the horses' feet? Is the only answer to get the ragfork out again (only son is not here this time, so it would be down to me ..).
The field is divided, so we could keep the horses away for a while, but not indefinitely ...
I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks.
