Hi Guys,

I have been riding now for about eight years, however i've just got back into it after some months out due to a knee operation. Allthough i can move through all paces effectivly i have noticed that i have become VERY sloppy. In relation to my legs this may be to do with my operation as i have had the cruciate ligaments re built in my left knee and its not as strong as it used to be, but what has happened to my arms????...

I was thinking of asking my old instructor to take me right back to basics and i mean the basics, gaining an independant seat again...

What do you think??

Yeah , i definitely think that back to basics riding lesons will really help.Be patient though , you may not find it that easy with your knee operation.

Good luck :D

I have had ops on my hips and that completely throws me out you may find if you start basic lessons again that it all comes right back to you.

I regularly do longe lessons and work with my seat from time to time, and that's without any major surgeries that have affected my musculature.

Most certainly, if you have had any major changes in your body or a significant amount of time off, work on re-establishing your basic position and balance will pay off. It really isn't a step back. It's just a matter of feeling yourself out and making any necessary adjustments before moving on again.

If your lower body is unsteady, then that will pull your upper body around too. Time and practice will help :) as you get used to your new knee. Back to basics will help as you re-establish old patterns and re-develop muscles.
