Hi I really need to get someone else to look at Charlie trot but I swear it was like he was being a bit light on his front leg when lunging. He was constantly swinging his head around (what he does when he's distressed) so I checked his foot and there is a small bit of his frog that is loose. Do you think this would cause him pain? Wasn't sure what to do so cleaned it up with water then applied hoof oil

Hi,

My mare often gets that with the frog, it's nothing to worry about. is he due for shoeing? if you watch the farrier they just cut that bit off. It's like shedding anothe rbit of skin i know funny way of explaingin it. Just be careful that they are kept clean in case it provides a nice sheltered accommadation for Thrush.

As for the light legged trot maybe you do need another opinion from someone but the frog skin should not have caused it. maybe slightly stiff from this awful weather we have been having

Hi again thought I would post again on this thread instead of starting a new one. Can anyone recommend something for dry cracked frogs? Is sudocream suitable? ;)
