I'd call a vet you never know - My horse went lame on both his front legs and it was severe, he's lucky to still be alive. Unfortunately the lameness wasn't as noticeable with shoes on and it was therefore difficult to diagnose, please don't ignore this and call a vet immediately :) It may be something as simple as getting used to being without shoes but in my case it was chronic and degenerative

First get a Vet to check the poney out. Then find a good natural trimmer to get the hooves properly trimmed and go with his/her advice. The trimmer will get the hgooves prperly shaped but may or may not do anything for string halt.
I am not a fan of Strasser at all. I agree with what she is trying to do but totally opposed on how she does it. Each hoof on every equine is unique and can't be molded to fit a specific parameter every time. Movement is what heals a horse and they won't move very much with sore feet.
Find the trimmer and Vet and go with what they suggest. A word of caution here. If something anyone suggests feels wrong and I emphasise feels here, question it. Get another opinion, you'll know in your heart if it's right or not.
