What do you recommend to solve the problem of dirty ears?

Snoopy is white/grey with brown fur in his ears. I assume it's supposed to be white/grey but it's one place on his body I've never bathed. Is it okay to bathe furry ears, say with a damp sponge?

M,y pony is grey and hates people touching her ears.. she has brown wax stuff, my friend thinks it could be mites. Will find out when she has been sedated.

i wouldn't wash the inside of his ears, no. regardless of how careful you are, some soapy water is bound to run down into his ears. and who really looks inside a horse's ears expecting them to be clean anyway?
if the fur sticks out and is really manky, then hold his ears closed and trim down the edge, to get any fluff that sticks out, but i'd leave the inside well alone.

Astra is grey and the insides of her ears are not white LOL.....but, although they are not waxy she does manage to get mud and stuff in them sometimes, which sticks to her tufty bits......I use a soft nail brush to gently brush the mud out and it sort of cleans them at the same time.......I also use the nail brush to do the outside of her ears too as it's easier than any grooming brush and she loves it.....
