Hi

I've heard that a good way of stopping your horse is to disengage the hindquarters. Any tips on putting this into practice as this is only something I've heard so I'm not very clear on it!

Forgive my apparent stupidity!

It is a good way of stopping the horse - a very good way - but there are a few things one has to do first!

Have a look under http://www.harmony-project.net/skin.asp?user=katefarmer&tab=weblogs&fid=0&nextdate=9%2F4%2F2003+7%3A24%3A51+AM&direction=n&bflag=#july03 and scroll down to "the one-rein-stop" and this will explain the whole thing and how to teach it to the horse.

Good luck!
