hmmmmm, the only thing I can think of is some sort of bite like you thought. I'm no vet but it seems logical....lol unless maybe you have a new perfume . I'd at least call the vet to see what he thinks, I beleive that's your best bet.

I'm not vet either, and I don't have any guesses, but maybe you should try to actually see if it possibly is her tack? Rub the noseband on the area where she gets these lumps, see if they start swelling or it nothing happens.

If nothing happens, just get the vet and tell him or her about them.
Let us know what happens :D

Could it be a reaction to something in the environment you take her into to tack her up? Have you had a new delivery of straw/hay? Any crop spraying going on nearby? Have you got any new tack or are you using any new tack cleaner?

Definitely sounds like an allergic reaction though.... hope it passes soon :o

Does sound like an allergic reaction, could it be to the headcoller rather then the bridle? has it been washes or anything reacently?

Best of Luck

my gelding gets fluidy cheeks .... it happens when the new grass arrives, he got it in spring, they go down off their own accord, and again he had it begginning of this week, flush of spetmeber grass you see.... quite common evidently, also known as grass mumps... could be that?
