I was thinking the other day.. what will happen to my 4 horses/ponies if anything happened to me?
Noone loves them like I do or is as interested as me.
Have you got something in place if it happens?

Well Ive told my mom I want my 2 girls to go to a retirement home, and no one is to ride them, the other 2 will probably be sold.

We have talked about drawing up a will but haven't done it yet.
Obviously if just one of us died the other would take care fo the horses. If we both die our plan is to let the animals go to the sanctuary I've been volunteering for- trust fund included.
The people at the sanctuary have advised me to be quite specific in our writing (like what conditions would qualify for what i.e. horse is in chronic pain they would be allowed to pts, etc.)

I have been having this discussion with other half last night, he has strict instructions, not to let my little chap leave his yard and that he must stay there until the end of his days, be paid to be looked after (OH is not horsey! poor little horse would survive on red wine, beer and pizza if i gave him the choice to look after him!)
but..... i am going to draw up a will very soon.... (am only 26 so am hoping i've got a few years left, but like you say you never know what might happen)
i'm already a legal guardian of two horses, my old loan horse and also a friend at my yards horse, i'm mentioned on their wills and i have sole authority to comply with their wishes on how the horses are looked after when owners have deceased....
Not a pleasant topic but a VERY important one.
