On Saturday me and my Husband went to La Cense just outside of Paris and saw Ray Hunt give a demonstration on Starting Colts.
I was enthralled. He had Dave Stewart and Jake(?) actually doing the work whilst he talked. There were 2 colts who had totally different personalities but within an hour and a half they were riding up to lope and stopping and even loading into a trailer.
Next he talked through a demonstration of a more advanced horse ridden by Andy Booth and the use of controlling the paces and diagonal walk before striking into canter (thus striking off on the correct lead)
In the afternoon Andy Booth demonstrated 'The pleasure of equine ethology' and had a beautiful horse that was amazing and performed movements to music and cantered up to the trailer and loaded and then unloaded himself in it and jumped over blocks, all with simple cues from a carrot stick.
Unfortunately we had to leave at this point to catch the Eurotunnel back home but I definitely recommend this place to anyone. :D

Sounds great. But how did you find out about it? And what is La Cense please? Can you tell us a bit more? I sometimes hack with a young instructor from France (his vacation job) and he told me he didnt know anything about NH there.
I have a note about La Cense being Parelli, so that must be wrong. I think John Lyons also has a following in France through Elizabeth de Corbigny.
How do you suggest people in the UK might find out about demos in France, particularly by Americans who never seem to come here?

It was actually my husband who found out about it. He was looking at the La Cense website in Montana (www.lacensemontana.com (http://www.lacensemontana.com/)) and found alink to the one in France (www.lacense.com (http://www.lacense.com/site/homegb.htm) and then found that Ray Hunt was going to be there.
We had to go as he has been wanting to see him for ages and Ray's visit to England last year was cancelled. It was a mad rush but we eventually got there.
There are more details on the link between Parelli UK and La Cense here - http://www.equinetourism.co.uk/editorial/equineethology/equineethology.htm
Just noticed that the Ray Hunt demo was also half way down the page here - www.equineethology.com (http://64.246.36.139:8082/PNH/Groups)

We ship a lot of our rope gear to france, there seems to be a thriving natural scene at a local level.
People helping people is a great way to get info.

With the commencement of Equine Ethology in Europe I'm sure you will be sending a lot more too LodgeRopes. ;)
Good on you supercali. I'm jealous. :D
Ray was obvioulsy there for the promotion of Equine Ethology. It has great acceptance in Europe it seems, they are just getting resistence in the UK because people can't get past the fact that it's based on PNH.

I would be happier if Parelli hadn't appropriated a term in common usage for the name of a commercial organization! If I tell someone that I study equine ethology (which I do), will they now assume I am into PNH or not??

Francis do you mean the term Equine Ethology or the term Natural Horsemanship?
If it's EE, it wasn't really Parelli's idea. It's just his method they are following.
If it's NH, he coined the phrase and the world has caught on.
But I'm not sure I understand why you are concerned if people think you follow PNH or not?
