My horse, Tiffany, is very unbalanced at the canter (well...not really when shes going straight, but in corners..i feel like shes going to fall in)...i was taught to use my inside leg and outside rein to help balance her...but it is very hard to use my inside leg at the canter, and when i use my rein, she leans agianst it and in even more..any ideas on how to improve her balance at the canter?

I dont have his prob, but a pony that is used in some of my lessons does. The riders are always told to help him in the corner.
Make sure YOU dont fall to the outside, and slow the canter, and stay balanced, I cant remember which rein my instructor say , but she says to keep it on his neck. (i think its the inside rein)
But mostly dont make it worse by you leaning to the inside, keep the horse under you, and dont lean.
Proly didnt help, but.......o well.

Another thing that might work, is go in a big SAFE feild, and do big big circles, without really tight turns.
If you work on that for a while, she might get better, then eventually you can get smaller, and when she feels totally balanced, try slow corners.
Just what I thot, try it if you want, but dont if you dont want to.

I was taught to use my inside leg to steady the horse and lift my iinside rein slightly, not pull on it, but raise it. Also, it is very important to steady a horse in corners by asking her to go slower as you approach the corner. Try doing this exercise- post trot and extend down the long sides of the arena and then sit trot and shorten stride down the short side.
It also helps to work on getting the horse on the bit- I have noticed that if a horse is on the bit, they don't tend to lean in on corners so much. But don't have too much contact or else the horse will depend on you. Hope that makes sense! :)

can your horse canter ok on a lunge? just wondering...
also if she can canter ok on the lunge them are you sitting correctly when you go around corners?
you are not leaning in too far as if you were on a motorbike or something??? mayeb get someone to watch you from the gorund and see if they can see if its just the horse having problems or if it is you awell!
can you horse trot ok in circles??? sitting trot too?

She does trot well in corners, as long as i ask her to bend...i guess she's still a litle unbalanced when she canters on the lunge, though. I will try everything u guys told m...thanks!

another thing you could try..
ask for canter at point A and stop at point C or the other way around...and get this right before you go careering aroudn the whole arena..
just a question...how far into the corners are you trying to get your horse to go??becuase you wont be able to push your horse righ tinto the corners liek you can in trot.
Try cantering her around in circles before trying to canter down one side of the arena!
