You're daughter is adorable, I can just imagine her chanting to herself, "up down up down up down." And the picture of you both is soo cute.

When i have children they are DEFINATELY going to be horsey people. lol (they'll have no choice up until their 18th birthday.. mwuahhh haaaa haaaa)

ahh thanks! :D
She does look sweet concentrating so hard! She's really getting the hang of it.
She was off the 'lead' today - but the horse kept turning into the corner of the fence and stopping! :o Bless her, don't think Erin was steering it right! :p
All in all a good lesson, and my hubby loved watching us for the first time. :D

I've been waiting for the opportunity to 'force' Erin onto horse back, have been very 'gentle' in my persuasion (spell check) but my hubby knew it'd happen one day! ;)
We are devious women! :p

I've tried persuading my friends and family into riding, but they're a no go. Sooo my only choice is my future (distant future) children. They'll be at the barn before they even know what a barn is... lol That way there is no fear factor when they start to grow older

hehe in the meantime enjoy the peace! :p 'cos kids will cost you a fortune and you'll happily shell out too!

i.e. today.. RI was admiring my new jodphurs (my FIRST pair of jod's) and asked the price etc so we chatted about them (£20 from Ebay 'just the jod' shop) then she asked about Erin's and I laughed as they were £35 from a riding shop :D Because they were PINK! :D :p I know Erin loves pink so it was worth the joyous look on her face when she tried them on!

Admittedly she didn't want to take them off today she loves them that much! She wore them food shopping this afternoon! hehe She only changed as wanted to go out to play with my friends older two.

As I said to my RI - wait till you have kids, you'll think nothing of spending a fortune on them, and scrimp and scrape for yourself! ;)

Stryric, think I will do that.. she does look fab! :D there are two ponies like that one, one slightly bigger than the other, all 3 little ponies at the school are so gentle, really great. Erin has already un-tacked (almost dropping the saddle) 2 ponies :D.

Cloang - I totally know how you feel about the spending! :D My hubby is lucky I'm as much of a novice as my daughter! hehe or we'd be horsey shopping! :p

hehe a Pro I'm not, but thanks! ;)

It is lovely that we can ride together now, we had the first 3 lessons apart. I didn't know rising trot then either...

It's a life long dream of mine, and a dream i've had of Erin joining me too! :D

Just be careful with forcing children to be horsey, YO has a son about my age (16) and he has never been allowed to have any choice in his life whatsoever. His mum made him ride, bought him ponies, made him do tetrathlon. the poor kid has no holidays or leisure time.
he doesnt want to ride anymore, but his mum is having none of it. i feel really sorry for him.

Yeah the forcing thing was a joke on my behalf, but my children will definately grow up around horses, that they have no choice. I am certainly going to encourage them to ride, but will not force them if they don't want to. And lessons will come as soon as the kids seem interested in actually getting on and riding. I guess ultimately it is their decision as to whether they want to ride or not, but a life with horses is definately going to be there.

That's awful, poor kid!

I was concious that I didn't have the chance to have lessons etc when I DID want it, so always wanted to be able to offer my daughter the opportunities that weren't made available to me, I still do -she's only 6 ;).
That includes parenting differently and putting her first always.

When we were on holiday in Scotland she expressed her desire to go on the pony AFTER we had stroked it and walked away. No pressure just a little education into what happens - as sometimes the fear of the unknown stops children making a decision.

I was soooo pleased that she had a 2 min pony ride, but left it at that, until she asked to return to the beach the next day, I asked if she wanted to go to the seaside or see the pony, she said the pony.. hence the offer of lessons! She's not looked back, but all her equipment has been bought with the mind that she'll likely stop at some time as kids normally do.

You never know though.. there is a small % that go on to enjoy a life of riding. ;)

If Erin does, I'm sure it'll cost us later! hehe financially! :p

Thanks, but I soooo do! hehe I don't mind though, I see myself as halfway there ;)
I'm still really heavy for my height and a size 18/20. :o Having said that though I've always been heavier than I look or people think.. even GP's!
Thankfully I can say I'm down 3lb this week! Must be my running, swimming and now riding! ;) :D
