A few years ago, my pony fell head first into the ground and I went over her head. I ended up with fractured fingers, bad scratches and a sprained ankle, not bad considering we were slowing from a gallop. Anyway, now and then, if I have been riding for a few hours like at pony club or out hacking, my ankle seizes up and it hurts. Does anyone else suffer old injuries? Would strapping my ankle help?

i'm an old crock. i cracked a vertebra in my neck falling off, and that is stiff in winter, and i also suffer with some old car crash injuries, torn muscles and tendons and a broken wrist. i find keeping the injury sites warm really helps - i always wear a scarf or poloneck in winter, and need to keep my shoulder, where the muscles and tendons tore, warm too. i wear a sports wristband when it's cold as well, or bandage it, but it;'s more warmth than support for me.
it depends on the kind of injury though, what's best for it.

I sprained my left ankle 6 times and my right 4. I could NEVER keep my heels down without a horrible tremor starting in my ankles, and then like yours, they'd start to swell up..
So when I rode, I did put a tensor bandage around both ankles to give it a bit more support (also I found half-boots gave me more as well)
Then I also started working out with ankle boots and weights to develop strength in my ankles again
