How can you keep hand still? I find it realy dificult and Bumblebug tosses his head around because of this. Also, what bit is best for keeping still? Bumblebug has got a loose ring snaffle but it seems to wobble wich doesn't help.

Thankyou!

when i was learning many moons ago, my instructor was forever shouting at me to keep my hands still with thumbs ontop. to get me out of this habit for a month i had to ride with 2 mugs full of water, if i made too much movement, or reverted to 'motorbike' hands, poor pony got soaked. she also used to tie a piece of balertwine (or use a scarf) round my left wrist, run it round the back of my neck, and tie it to the right wrist. if my hands jiggled or moved to much, i got a sore neck!! maybe not the most humane methods but it worked and its a lesson i've never forgotten.

i don't quite get your second question, you mean a bit that is still in his mouth?

For advice I can offer for you to ride with NO HANDS! ask someone to either lunge or lead you whilst in trot (as I imagine this is the problem) and try to rise and fall without the reins. you may find that it is you balance that may be moving your hands. Try then to keep your hands still in the riding position and hold onto a crop above the withers (thumbs up) to help you visulise stillness. You can practice this on a chair at home (although don't tell your friends they will think you are loopy) I hope it helps.

I love the comments by eventbabe..lol these would work too I am sure and I may use the mugs one on a girl that has motorbike hands...lol can't wait! poor pony :D
