I have been training my horse with natural methods eg. John Lyons, Clinton anderson. My horse is so soft and has great self carriage. I just starte d dressage for fun. My instructer says I need to have more contact. This causes him to brace on the bit and not give. He normally gives so wonderfully that you get a little slack in the reins for a few moments. He will stay in self carriage on his own. Should I forget about getting him used to firmer contact. He gets confused as in dressage the give is not as pronounsed as the natural method way. Help. I am confused.
