Thought I'd start a thread about boots for all those people who want recommendations.
I have harry hall long rubber boots and they are comfy and look good....they even come in half sizes....they are like wellies.

I've got Just Togs jodphur boots - they are really wide fitting - so great with thick socks - and comfy.
V.reasonable at £35 ;)
My daughter has Toggi rubber long riding boots. I was impressed they came with a great insole which make them really comfy.

I'm using a pair of Decathlons cheap rubber long boots, they fit well but being rubber your feet end up a bit sweaty! so I'm thinking of getting some long leather boots next pay day but they are abit expensive.
I prefer long boots to jodhpur boots and I was thinking of getting a pair of Rhinegold Olympic boots, does anyone have any views on this boot? are they any good?

I got my boots from a shop called Jacky Roberts Saddlery and they were 21quid. Long rubber boots.

I get alot of my stuff from Jackie Roberts Saddlery, in fact, I went shopping there today for new jodhs :p
I personally do not like long rubber riding boots, I find them very stiff and it is difficult to keep heels down in them (unless it was just the pair that I had? ;) ) I ride in short muckers and chaps. I find them much more comfortable to ride in, and work in.

ive got a pair of loveson blue boots, they're really smart and zip up at the front, thinking of gettin another pair for competition to wear with my gaiters and they are mega comfy! they have a really spongy cushioned sole can wear them all day!

Hey Sarah! I've adapted quite well to keeping my heel down in them. They are my first pair of boots and quite new but I find it okay to keep my heels down....they seem to fall naturally. YAY!

I wear Harry Hall jodpur boots with loveson half chaps. I haven't been riding long enough to have anything to compare them to but I'm happy with them so far :)
I decided to get jodpur boots as I thought long rubber boots would be a bit hot and sweaty and long leather boots are on the pricey side

why do long rubber riding boots get used as they are really uncomfortable to get the propper leg position in. Also when I bought mine they were the only ones that I was shown

I find mine to be OK, but I think what kind of boot fits you best is quite a personal thing, I don't like jodhpur boots at all, they just don't feel right.
You probably need to go to a well stocked shop and try a good range of different boots on.

I find them comfy....went up decathlon couple of weeks ago and tried on their jodhpur boots and they are so spacious...... thats ok if you have a chunky foot but not when you have small feet like mine lol
I have got used to riding in rubber long boots......they still let me bend my ankle

my point was that long rubber boots are a bit difficult to bend at the ankle. I still wear mine though. Is there a reason why long boots are worn?

stop stirrup leathers and saddle skirts from rubbing your legs and making them sore. And they look cool! lol

after getting smothered in mud and sand in my last lesson, I'm wondering what to do about long boots.. rubber or whether to just get chaps for my current jod boots?

I used to use Half chaps, but they were a chore. Every week they'd get dirty and before I could take them into the house I'd have to wash them! And when it's wet they don't keep your legs dry etc etc.
I prefer long boots, but I only have rubber ones at the moment. I am confident that the next pair of boots I get will be proper leather riding boots - I'm looking at the regent range.

Thanks, maybe it's best to head for a pair of rubber boots then. ;)

I've got some really nice boots (quite old though! Leather I think) that zip up the back and velcro at the top, and they're chunky and good.
Edit: they're Mountain Horse Sportive ones and now cost about £80 (weren't that much when I got them! )

I like my jodhpur boots, they're Harry Hall though can't remember which range they're from. I've got really old leather half chaps off ebay which are much better than the Loveson pair I had before that were too short. I never have to wash them, just brush them off and maybe put some dubbin on the outside. I think that it's the synthetic ones that cause trouble. I can't get long rubber boots to fit my legs, the last pair I had would have caused gangrene if I'd had to wear them on a long ride! Would really like some long leather boots but they are v v v expensive (well I think they are anyway:)) Rubber boots are a bit stiff, and it seems they are only made for people with 'standard' legs (which is about 2% of the population!)

The Muck Company Tyne Long Riding Boot (approx. £55) are a combination of wellies and riding boot and v. comfy and warm. Also, Harry Hall Faro long boots are good but they're about £70.
