Has anyone got/had either of these?

I like the look of them and think they would be useful for protecting my saddles when I'm not using them and might make them easier to carry around. However, they are quite a bit cheaper than any other saddle bag I've seen so I'm not sure about the quality... they are made by Shires, however, who generally make good quality stuff. Opinions please? I like the look of the first one more but the second one is cheaper and I'm ordering from there anyway. :)

The shires's ones really high quality material and zip BUT you have to bend your saddle flaps to fit it in. If you've got anything other than a narrow saddle, you'll need to squash it in. They're brill for taking saddles to shows etc though.

If you do decide to get on, have a look on ebay first- they're much cheap there.

From the look of them, I'd avoid the second one. The saddle flaps do have to bend to fit in and that one looks like it has a zip at the end rather than along the length of the saddle. I tried one like that once and it was virtually impossible to get the saddle in on your own without scratching it on the zip  So not the best design anyone's ever come up with! I changed it to one with a zip along the length which although it still squished the flaps up a bit, was a lot easier to manage and better for the saddle.

Can I just say.. that teh seller of bags related to horsey stuff on ebay called
1nel1 is useless! so please stear clear.

Their feedback was ok when I purchased a pink riding hat bag for my daughter.. but haven't received it - 3 weeks later - and am unable to claim off paypal as the cover is limited to over £10.. and yep it cost just over £10.

I've bought many great items off ebay so am not totally put off... just put off this seller!

I have the Robinson Requisite Saddle Carrying bag http://www.robinsons-uk.com/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=89402

Having an w-wide cob saddle the Shires and ones that you need to sqeeze the panels in are no good. This is padded and has a zip which runs all the way round from the cantle on each side.

So far have found it be really great, keeps the saddle clean and prevents it from getting damaged etc.
