Hey everyone I wondered if anyone had much experiance with making Training schedules for three day eventers? as part of our Equine Fitness and training course includes an assignment which includes stuff about making schedules and discussing different types of schedules!

Anyway as I said I wondered if any of you had much experiance in making schedules for a three day eventer as I was looking for any advice and techniques I could include in the schedule! I've had a quick search of the internet and its not providing much help so I thought someone on here might be able to share something that could give me a few ideas! :D

Thanks!

Well as strange as it seems I have experence in a training schedule for event horses...

One approach for a Baby Novice-Training Event horse is

Two Days A week:
Dressage/flat for about 45mins-1 1/2hours In a Outdoor Arena (If available)

Two Days A week:
Ride on the flat for about 20mins then trot to a near by hill and do alittle Hill work for another 10-20mins to built up there topline. (Best at trot w/ alittle canter)

One Day a Week:
Ride in a Enclosed/Indoor Arena (if Available) for 45mins-1 1/2hours, working on movements from your dressage test ie. Freewalk, Strechy Circles, Extension, Shoulder ins), as well as basic flat work. At these levels you should be able to maintain a working frame throughout the entire workout.

One Day A week:
Ride In a feild were both Cross-country and Staduim Jumps are available, and school for about 45mins-1hour riding small-Full Courses, Doing Gymnastic lines, and schooling cross-country obstacles. (Water is a plus because at these levels it can still be a problem for some horses/riders.

One Day a Week:
Ride in a Arena with both space for flat work and jumps. Ride Dressage for about 30mins working on general Exersises, The school the jumps for 25 mins working on small courses gymnastis lines and single fences. It is also inportant at these levels to practice turns as well as combonations.

Optional Exersise:
Take your Horse/Pony on an outing off the farm limits, Taking them for a quick trailer ride is a great experence for them to have reguarlly, so even if you travel to a nearby farm for a clinic or a lesson its is always important to "get them out there" ( One Lesson from a perfessional a week or every other week is also suggested)

"Rest Days"
At these levels when your horse/pony is in shape they do not really need a day off but you can Add this to your workout by taking out something you need to work on the least... I wouldn't recoment taking the Hill work out for it is a vital exersize. You Should Alway give a pony a rest day after a compitition but I recomend taking them on a quick ride at the walk and trot or walkong them out so they don't stiffen up!

Hope this Helps.... If you would like more schedules for Different levela ect. just reply!
