Ok.......I know what I think we'll probably/might get, but wanted to ask you all too :) I could go further back to see what grandsires etc were, but not really that worried so just an idea in the right direction would be good :o
sire-palomino and white + dam - grey (born chestnut) = ?????????
and also.....
sire - blue roan + dam- black = ??????

I know that grey is a dominant gene and so is roaning... boy how I love guessing the color of foals. As for the first foal, palomino is not a dominant color unless it is breed to a recessive gene and it might then cover that gene up. But, grey is dominant, from what I have read grey covers other genes unless it is homozygous. I am guessing that the first foal would be grey. And the second baby, the sire is roan. The will more than likely also be roan with stockings, from what I have seen in other foals. :D
P.S. As for the one dam that was born chesnut as a foal, and then turned grey, that is usually how it works! As in Lippizzans, they are brown(I think) when they are born, and as they get older they fur turns grey, and older than that it turns white. :)

In the first, the baby's base coat will be chestnut.
He has a 50% chance of a cream gene (to make palomino) and at least a 50% chance of going grey. He has at least a 50% chance of being pinto.

In the second, the foal will probably have a base coat of black. If *both* parents carry a recessive chestnut gene, then there's a 25% chance of a chestnut.
There's at least a 50% chance of roan on top of that black, to make blue roan.

Ok thanks guys :) I reckon we'll just have the standard one grey and one black, just like their dams  :D
