My 16.1 warmblood gelding is so dirty in his stable. he manages to bury it and spread it round every where. one day he is clean the next its totally trashed. I have tried every kind of bedding, shavings, straw, megazorb, bedmax and easy bed he has even been on rubber matting with a small amount of bed but still minging. I find the less bed he has the worse he is. Ive tried deep littering as well as lifting the bed every day. I dont know what to try next. has anybody got any sugestions??

Is he very restless in the stall?
Alot of times, particularily if their clean one day and a total mess the other day, it's because they are bored. They pace the stall, spreading all the stuff around to make it even more messier.

Just a suggestion. We had 2 mares who were disgusting. Peeing all the time and spreading it around everywhere. Gave them a couple of toys and they are much cleaner and go in the same spot now

he does tend to box walk. what sort of toys did you give them. he has a ball and likits dont last 5 mins and he has mastered the art of biting them in half.
will try the toy thing. thanks a lot.

Another thought on the restless idea.

Where is his stall located in the barn? I friend of mine has about 5 horses/ponies that she keeps at home. Their barn has 5 stalls on one side and 2 . . . To make a long story short one of the horses on the end stall used to be very messy, they moved him one night because of a broken board, across from another horse. He is now really, really clean. He was getting lonely.

Here you go. This stuff and rubber matting is truly amazing.
