Has anyone heard of this? It is suppose to correct blindness from what my vet said but I guess it is rare and very costly ($5000 per eye.) I would love to learn what to expect and if there are dangers or drawbacks? Vet said she is completely blind in both eyes even though I swear she can see shadows sometimes out of the left eye. :(

I have always heard that there is no cure for Uveitis (moonblindness) when it becomes an established condition. I guess this must be a new treatment.

Good luck with your horse. Its a horrible condition.

I read about this treatment in an Equus magazine this summer. I'll see if I can find it, scan it & send it to you.
The implants give a slow release of meds. Supposedly it's pretty impressive.

Yeah that would be great if you can find the article. Thanks for looking. The treatment is suppose to be new and not done in very many vets. I would need to haul her to a hospital in CO. I have read alot on the disease and some articles say it is painful others say otherwise. Her eyes don't water unless it get really really windy and in that case I put her fly mask on. She has gotten along really well with the disease as far a walking in her stall and pasture she also rides better then most sighted horses.

Sounds like she has lots of confidence in you, you're lucky.
What was the cause of her uveitis?

PS I'll look for the article today & pm you tomorrow. (Haven't had a chance yet, sorry. But it gave names that you could probably contact. It was a really good article)
