:( Poo. Horrible saturday. Went to check ponies and sham was the only one who didnt come over. Mr nosey himself who is always first there, so I knew something was up. The only other time he hasn't come over was when he had his tail tangled in a tree and couldn't move  Went over to see him and as I was nearly there he tried to come and meet me. Horribly lame on one hind in particular, walking on the toe, and snatching leg right up too  Sometimes he would put weight on all of it, and then rested the other. Looking a bit funny on both but one in particular. Not hot, a weeny bit swollen above the coronet? managed to pick out foot while rested on toe and cant see/feel anything. I wanted the vet out but everyone else advised me otherwise so he has come in for box rest for the night to see how he is in the morning, and seems to be putting a bit more weight on it already. He's so stressed in already though and sweated up and pacing  Any ideas? I'm stressing now too that I should have had the vet straight out . Hope he's ok in there :(

Pus in the foot maybe? Although that wouldn't make him snatch it up. I'd get a vet out in the morning.
As for the box rest... that's only going to help if it's something structural that needs rest - and if he's that stressed he's more likely to make it worse inside pacing than out in the field where he's likely to stand still and rest. If he doesn't settle I'd probably be inclined to turn him out again.
Poor Sham. Hope he's ok.

Oh b****r :( I am so indecisive and tend to let people just take over. Kicking myself. Anyone you know sell assertiveness? Now do i go down in the pitch black and turn him back out or leave him be for the night? Maybe once it gets dark he will settle. And I did leave him with one humungous pile of hay to keep him distracted. Ok thats it then, check early a.m, and vet out if still sore on it. :(

Sounds like a good plan. I'm sure it won't be anything really terrible - not if he's putting weight on it, even intermittently.
Rhodri greeted me hopping lame the other day - that turned out to be nothing more than a mild strain he did to himself sliding around the field  . Was fine a couple of days later.
