black spot on a bay?

on her side, my bay pony has a big black spot, about the diameter of half my thumb, which has been there about 6 months.

There was no injury there beforehand - all her little nicks and cuts have grown back white anyway.

any ideas what this might be? im just curious really. :)

also, her black legs are greying out (my babies getting old!!!) At the moment just the back half of her lags are grey - is it common for the fronts to go grey as well?

urmm i dont know what it is but my horse has one, its probably just pigment

I think someone else has asked this about their horse and it turned out to be a Bend Or spot. Have a look at the definition here. (http://www.equinecolor.com/unusual.html) :)
