I was wondering what experiences with endurance saddles anyone has had, what likes/dislikes, if you kept using endurance..or used a treeless?
I am contemplating buying one for a new horse 11yr old Appy 16 h named Dusty (going to change his name too), used to trails and that is used to western saddle. I was also wondering how to slowly start working him, excercises and time schedule, he has been roundpenned and I'm going to teach him to lunge/voice commands.. should i excercise him in an endurance saddle after awhile of working up to it (maybe next year in the summer)? He has been out to pasture for two years and is sound but not in complete shape. Did a two hour trail ride with minimal sweating at a walk in a western saddle. I do not have a roundpen but can lunge on a 25 foot line.
I'm thinking of starting Mister 6 yr old QH/Standardbred/Halflinger) working too.. he is capable of an hour trail ride(walking) with some warm up lunging walk/trot 2x a week. Have cantered him a few times last week, after walking/trotting on the lunge line.. he is learning voice comands also.
Thanks for any replies and knowledge....
My goal is to go for 3-4 hours slow canter, trot, walk depending on terrain eventually with the Appy. And with Mister.. he's mostly for the kids and myself to train.. Thanks!
