Hi I'm still not sure what boots to get to xmas. At the moment I have the mountain horse rider II (I think) the brown ones. They have lasted over a year but now they have started letting water in. The only 2 problems I found with these boots are 1. I have to re-do my laces a lot 2. They don't have much grip and I can hardly walk on snow.

So can anyone recommend a good pair of boots that are good for riding, being on the yard, water proof and look good?

Thanks ;)

I have those and love them!! They have lasted longer than all my others, dont let any water in I never have to lace them etc! Ive only cleaned them a couple of times in their lifetime and they are still great! :D I guess mine arnt exposed to such conditions as yours snow  yikes!!

hmm, cant help you there, but if you saddle soap any new ones from the beginning they will stay water proof and live longer :D

Thanks for your reply. Have been thinking about just buying the same ones but wanted to know other peoples views first. I've practically worn them everday since I had them so not too bad.

Well, they're not especially pretty, but for chores and daily riding- I love 'em. I work at a horse farm, so my boots should get a lot of wear and tear- but they hold up like crazy! They're Double H brand- they come in wide enough sizes for my wide but small feet, and they're extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time. While the surface of the leather has gotten a bit scratched up from a couple years' use, they're still as sturdy as ever. The leather is amazingly thick- I work with the horses at a camp every summer, and one day they assigned me to picking hooves- no big deal, except these horses only have their feet picked up three or four times a year- they tried to stomp on me like none other! A couple times they got my toes, but the boots were sturdy enough, my toes were perfectly protected. (There are a couple marks on the toes of the boots now, though... hehe). The thick leather is also very warm. The shaft of the boot, however, isn't as thick as the foot part- so it's not all stiff and uncomfortable. I love my boots to death- only problem with that statement is that they just won't die!
