HI EVERYONE
I have noticed a lot of worries about Riding position and a few pictures on posts. So I thought I would start a thread for those of you who want to post pictures of themselves riding and have NR members give friendly and helpful advice on Riding Position and the Horses way of going all in one thread.
I must stress, any advice given does not mean you HAVE to do it. You choose to take that persons advice. :o Soz to be a bit serious there, but just covering peeps backs.
Look forward to seeing your Photos! ;)

Sure, why not :) It's always interesting to hear other people critique.
These were taken 2 years ago, before I started dressage, so they aren't really accurate, but whatever ;) I seriously doubt my position has changed all THAT much except my leg is a bit further back and my hands have lifted.

This one below is bit more recent, taken last summer. The mare looks horrible, but it was her first time in english tack with a rider over 100lbs (she was a racehorse beforehand) and my hands are that low because I was actually pulling out a whip

Nutty Mare : I cannot see anything dredfully wrong! Your leg is not winched up beneath your chin like a jockey! Which is great! Your sitting up tall, your Toes are forwards and you both look relaxed!
Storm Arion Is it the same horse in the 3 pics?
The first pic I can see some tension, is the mare disagreeing with something you were asking at the time because the rein is taught. You look to be sitting nice an tall ( hard because of puffa jacket ) but could do with geting those toes pointing forwards. This will give you better contact on the horses sides.
As I come to picture 2, Wow! she looks lovely! Pretty square and rounded ( nose slightly behind vertical ) You position is good too. I notice you are in GP, being Dressage minded I would prefer a bit more length in your leg if you are schooling. But the jumps in the back suggest you where jumping, in which case your a good leg length :p
3rd Picture, immediatley see much tenseness in the mare, but you say she is getting used to a new tack / riding style which will explain some of it. Your riding position is good and should help the mare progress in the new tack! :D So she will hopefully settle and be more relaxed.
OVERALL: Both good! Happy Riding and success for you both!

storm aroin the only thing i can see is that you need to get your hands away from your body a bit, it looks like you are setting your hands and holding them into your body. (i used to do it to and my instructor had a go at me about it)
right people here is me!

no, it isn't the same horse :) The first two are pics of my Trakehner gelding 2 weeks after I got him (and before any of us had much dressage training), and the last pic is of an OTTB mare called Vicki
*sigh* Even two years later, toes are still the bane of my existance ;) Thanks for the comments!
