So, I had the opportunity of schooling Barney again and tryed to put into play your suggestions.

For those who didnt see my last thread its here: (http://www.newrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65486)

I was in.. well, not the greatest of moods, and had to ride him quickly, I know not the best circumstances and it all may have ended more happily if I had chilled out a bit

Anyways, I started on a longer rein, tryed to get him to loosen up, take a longer stride and reach down. He needed a lot of encouragement and was extreemely lazy, but I felt there was a slight improvement in the end. I felt I was pulling his mouth around quite a lot; I fear my hands have hardened a lot with demanding more from RS horses and am greatly worried by this. I think I needed to strengthen my back and send him forward from behind, although I think the photos show his hind end being more active than last time which can only be good :D

So here are the photos: followed by my commentary and then the disaster that happened next! Feel free to critique any more than I have!

Photo 1- hmm, where is that heel!!! He looks slightly on the forehand, but i think it might be that pic, thats one thing that pony is not!

Photo 2- well im rather infront of the vertical!! Hands need to come up, which will cause shoulders to come back and legs need to come forwards and under me. I quite like the action with his hind leg though, and hes reaching forwards himself, although not down and he doesnt look quite so tense through his neck.

Photo 3- Sorry for the fuzziness! Well he looks ok, could do with relaxing down a bit more, but not awful. Again, I am leaning forwards, my legs are a tad too far back and my wrist is twisted downwards.

Anything I have missed PLEASE tell me :D

Now, for the not so good  there were people watching me  Im not so good with this, and being in a rush I wanted him to go nicely straight away :( bless, poor pony. I know I can ride him short and tense, which would look nicer and more correct to those watching, but I knew I shouldnt. Through all of this, he was being very lazy, I smacked him into canter and completely unawares, the next minute I was on the floor  I guess he did the right thing, I wasnt concentrating on my position as I should have, just on getting the final result and I got punished for it!

Alflover- Thanks so much :D Hes not my horse and hes getting old now. He is happy being ridden short and everyone does, as it is easy and, well, he doesnt offer any streching or any lengthening through his back or neck at all. I honestly (sadly in some ways) dont think he will change, its how he has always been ridden and how he continues to be ridden, appart from the few times I sit on him (which I dont think will be much longer- I dont think the YM was very impressed I fell off :p  ), but when I am on him I like to work on something :D
