Hello how are you doing this week?
I'm trying to get back on track after a couple of busy weeks. However I still lost two pounds in the last fortnight so I'm pleased with that, heading up towards a stone off soon which is some incentive.
Have walked, ridden and been swimming this week so far. My next exercise is mending fences now where naughty bulldozer ponies have been exploring this morning. They were all in the garden trimming the lawn for us. Grr!

I discovered that repeatedly driving for miles horse hunting sends healthy eating out the window :o and then I developed flu and, well you have to comfort feed a fever don't you? :o I'm still draped about sneezing, caughing etc between equine dentists, vets, saddlers etc. When the virus is gone (which surely has to be sometime this week), I will revisit my healthy eating (it had all been going so well  )!
I can finally ride the new girl at the weekend (after back and teeth problems), so that should help :)
Peace

 Gained two pounds over the weekend, and I didn't even really splurge. Just went out with OH for hot wings and pizza one night - only ate five wings and a slice and a half of pizza (the two pints couldn't have contributed, could they? :o ). And then had a normal-sized plate of food at the hunter's pace on Sunday, instead of my normal half-rations. :(
Oh, well, at least I know now I'm not likely to get much smaller than 10 stone 10 without starving. I'm 5'9", I can live with that. So now I can order those winter breeches without fear of shrinking too small to wear them :D - I had to give away two pair I bought in early summer.
Or do y'all think if I force myself to walk a couple of miles three times a week, like I'm supposed to, that I'll drop another size? Can't keep buying more breeches to give away to my barnmates!

i lost the few pounds i gained, but am still about the same, i always lose and gain but never really change much for long...
as for healthy eating, sorry but i'm addicted to food, i have 1 takeaway a week, and for the most part i eat only fresh meat and veg etc, its only when it comes to the end of the month that we have to go back to what left in the freezer, or as i have found pasta 3 days in a row now, just wait until sunday or monday and its the mnthly big shop again! yay proper food.
btw alcohol especially beer is REALLY fattening.

well I gave into temptation yesterday in the supermarket and grabbed some crisps .... BUT managed not to scoff them all, which is a major step forward in self-control.
And am sticking to a smaller plate for dinner which surely must help ?!
I have my "pack lunch" in the same box (cleaned obviously :p ) every day so whatever I have is the same portion size. But felt a bit cheated today as lunch had settled after I had filled the box up so I actually had less than I had planned !

Weeeeell, I'm still on the 'hunter-gatherer' diet and people are starting to say I look thinner, I even allowed myself a mince pie at the weekend but only had one and didnt get all bent out of shape about it :) so progress there!
Hackedoff's recipe of the week-
How to cook perfect rice
Use Basmati rice (Guru brand is my fave if you can get it)- a fist-size amount per person. Measure into a saucepan and fill saucepan with water, rinse and drain the rice 7 times careful not to tip it down the sink! Then leave to soak for at least an hour.
To cook it, drain off the water until it sits 1/2 inch above the uncooked rice. Put lid on pan and place on medium heat. When the water boils, turn off the heat and go and do something else for 10 mins.
Take off lid and fluff the rice gently with a fork, add butter if you wish ....voila! no more soggy rice- enjoy :)

Oh no! Still fat and planning for our Thanksgiving dinner!! Going to my yoga class tonight (doesn't help much). At least the yoga instructor just gained 10 lbs on his cruise so I'm not the only plump one.

Had to have have fun family dinner to celebrate hubby's birthday. It was really fun - had lots of friends over and made a cake. Trying to be good again now. Bought vitamins and actually managed to take them so far. Hubby made lovely chicken and veggie stirfry last night, which will hopefully cancel out the pirosky I ate for lunch (starch wrapped in starch - how nutritious). My lesson horse is on a diet, so maybe that will inspire me :) He and I can get fitter together.

I had been thinking about not responding to this thread because it had all been going so badly :o but it works as a Confessional too doesn't it? :)

Well, I have been exercising an extra 5-10 hours a week, and eating same sized portions as before yet I am still managing to gain fat,and only part of my weight gain is muscle... Very confused! Well, I am going on the rotation diet for 3 weeks so I hopefully will lose 5-20 pounds. Does riding an extra 6 hours a week count? :p Well, hopefully I will lose a few pounds this week, as I am going to be doing riding/groundwork and extra 14 hours this week due to a clinic sat and sun! On top of my normal 6-12 hours a week of riding/groundwork... Hey I might just get in 26 hours of riding this week!  On top of 3 hours on treadmill+ 2 hours dog walking weekly,I should lose weight. Right??? WRONG, I never seem to be able to do anything but gain weight no matter how limited my diet or how much I exercise! :o I guess it's going to be a battle, never mind this is war... anyway, how are the rest of you doing? :D *looks around innocently*

Ooh, that reminds me (laurajeanne) I am not having Thanksgiving so that will save me an extra couple pounds of weight gain next week! :D Not that it would make much difference...oh well I gotta have a few slices of pumpkin pie... :p For Thanksgiving I am going to exercise all day, going against tradition and on Christmas I am going to ride my horse all day to distract myself from food! :D :o I am planning on Thanksgiving to ride in the morning,a family hike in the afternoon, and a family dog walk in the evening! ;) Quality family time! :D

Willielove, I would not bother at all with a Thanksgiving dinner if my daughter and her new hubby weren't coming here for the holiday. Maybe cleaning the whole house (hubby has never been here) will use up a few calories. I wish I had a horse of my own to go ride! Have a great time on your rides.

Thanks laurajeanne! :) I hope I will, yeah I never realize how lucky I am to have my own horse to ride whenever I want, I really have only started to take advantage of that in the last 3 weeks! :o The 14 hour 2 day clinic is going to be fun,yet torturous.... I will be on my feet from 9am-4pm and then have to go home and stay up for homeowrk another 4 hours....
Have fun on the holidays!Good luck with finding a horse also, there's nothing like horse ownership! :D

I said I would join you on Monday, and I meant it.
I'm cutting back my excesses and started a vitamin rich diet (mainly salads, fruit, fresh/cottage cheese, and yogurts). No more sweets, fat or carbohydrates, nor more buckets of instant cappuccino. I even dragged OH to join me on the salad band-wagon.
My aim is to loose 10 kg. I haven't weighted myself yet, because I don't want to start this on a bad note. I'll wait until I start to feel my tight clothes looser and then I'll do it.
So, I've been good. 3 rd day today. I feel an empty complaining stomac, but I am feeling the determination to follow it through. :D
What's the 'hunter-gatherer' diet?

Doing appallingly quite honestly, keep driving down to Somerset for job interviews and 300/400 mile round trips in one day don't do well for healthy eating. Veggie options in garages or service stations - cheese sandwiches or cheese pies or egg sandwiches. Allergic reaction to cheese is less than that for egg so guess what I've been eating.
Now starting to get flu so am having very hot veggie curry tonight (no rice, just hot blow your head off, get rid of those germs curry).
May have lost a bit of weight unintentionally and also started on the lets try and stop smoking path when at sis' 30th on Saturday was suddenly sick on taking first drag of ciggy. It really wasn't the drink, think there may have been something with the food as I've not been too well since then but it had the added bonus of putting me off smoking.;) :D

some variations here. Rather than adding butter, add a pinch of salt at the beginning.
And if you don't like plain rice, cook in chicken stock rather than plain water (Or veggie stock if you're veggie).
There is also a really nice recipe where you use thai red curry paste and steam salmon on top of the cooking rice :D

Then leave to soak for at least an hour.
I find soaking brown rice over night before you use it makes it taste loads better.
