If you know exactly what type of horse your looking for, how about placing a wanted advert in your local paper. :)

Try local tack shops, freeads (http://leisure.uk.freeads.net/browse.php?catid=1795) and adtrader (http://www.adtrader.co.uk). Can't think of any 'cheap' local dealers or anything. Stubley will be mentioned I'm sure but they are expensive!!

If you're looking for cheap then GOOD dealers (including Stubley) will be out. I know that Patsy has a horse on at the moment at under £2000 but can't remember the details and think that he's older than 5/6 anyway (and under 16hh I think).

To be honest you're not going to get a good, cheap horse from a good dealer and PLEASE don't be tempted by dealers who have 'cheap' horses for sale no matter what blurb they give you. They are cheap for a reason, a reason that you may not find out about until you get them home but will probably cost you a heck of a lot of money in vets fees etc in the long run.

What sort of experience do you have? What level are you working at? Are you looking to bring a horse on? Why are you particularly looking at 5/6 year olds? Would you consider something a bit older? Why 16hh? What height are you? Would you go for something smaller?

You'd probably be better looking privately if you are looking for a cheaper horse. Why not ask at Parklands (it is you that goes to Parklands isn't it or have I got you mixed up with someone else?).

I have got my grade 1 and stable management i have been riding for 8yrs i am an experienced rider.:o

"Are you looking to bring a horse on?"
Not for a while because i can train a 5/6 yrs to my ablity where as an older horse would be trained to someone elses abilities.:)

"Forgot to ask ..... what sort of money are you wanting to spend?"

The best place to buy a horse is the place the best horse is for sale! Go and look at as many as possible. There are pros and cons both for private and dealer purchasing.

I have got my grade 1 and stable management i have been riding for 8yrs i am an experienced rider.

I've been riding and looking after other people's horses for 47 years when I bought the Wonder Horse and it was frightening to discover how little I actually knew about looking after my own horse and I'm still learning - at the rate of something new nearly every week - after nearly 6 years as his mum!!!!
