i'd like to do a horsey qualification, but due to my university research commitments it would have to be a distance learning course. Can anyone recomend a specific course/establishment that does distance learning qualifications that i can take at my own pace? thanks in advance :)

I had a look at the open college of equine studies, but they seemed quite expensive.

I'm currently doing a distance learning course called 'equistudy' with Warwickshire college........

They're not wildly expensive and the course material is excellent, plus you get lots of support.

Worth a look I think!

i've been looking at equi-study and really like the look of their courses, and at £40 per unit thats cheap compared to others i've looked at. can you work through them at your own pace? whats the advantage of having tutor support?

i'd love to have some sort of equine qualifications to back up my years of experience. i have PC tests but they don't really count for that much. happiness, need to cover all my options, just incase i opt for a career change at some point ;) :p always wanted to do my teaching exams but got usual story from parents that being a riding instructor doesn't pay!

hee hee! I just phoned Warks college about the equi study Horse Care series... which I think is going to be my birthday present to myself;)

On asking for my address the poor lass said 'Good God... Where?' So although they offer these courses to overseas students, my guess is that they don't get very many enquires lol.

*looks forward to getting the prospectus*

*doesn't look forward to paying the postage costs  *

i emailed just now :) let me know how you get on when you start your equi-study packs. you've just given me an idea, might ask parents to pay for the horse care pack as an xmas prezzie!!

Looks like there are lots of us thinking along the same lines! I'm in the process of signing up with Equi-Study too
