I was on my way up to the yard this morning, stuck in a traffic jam, thinking about what I was going to do with Pumpkin.... Mustn't school him yet again, MUST go out, Oh my goodness, am in a panic... Then my YO texted me and suggested we went out just the two of us for a short relaxing plod. I breathed a sigh of relief that someone had made the decision for me, and (once I got out of the traffic jam and finally arrived at the yard) off we went! It was lovely! Pumpkin, after the initial 5 minutes of being on his toes a bit, suddenly setted down, head went down nice and low, and we had a lovely ride out. I really enjoyed it, and it was such a relief to finally get out of that yard after 2 weeks of schooling! My little Pumpkin Pie is such a sweetie, he must have thought it was his birthday cos mum finally let him go out and see some scenery :D

Will have a repeat experience tomorrow and must realise that there is no sweeter horse than Pumpkin and he'd never willingly scare me, but he just gets scared himself sometimes

Congrats Madmum! Don't know whether you've seen some of my 'nervous hacker' posts/threads but I had the same experience yesterday and went on a 25 minute solo hack (the longest yet). Doesn't it make you feel great? Keep up the good work - well done Pumpkin!

Must be the season for good hacks!!! I managed to do a short one on Storm yesterday, she didn't put a hoof wrong - even when faced with two potty ponies in a nearby field, a Christmas tree baler and an alarm!!! I was quite tense but OH kept telling me to relax. Think it helped following OH's steady neddy:D Yaye, think we're all doing rather well!!!:D :D

keep at it - Pumpkin is good, so the more you do it the better he will be, the less you do it, the more of an event it becomes, so you both wind yourselves up.

just get out there.

Very many congrats to the pair of you :) :) :) Now print out that post in VAST letters, and pin it up to remind yourself of what you and Pumpkin can do, in case you start wobbling again before you have a chance to reinforce it! Am very jealous at the moment, as my horse was lame when I went up to the stables yesterday - he has very sensitive soles, and I think he must have trod hard on a sharp stone or something ... However, and be that as it may, WELL DONE THE BOTH OF YOU, and do it agan soon :) :) :)

Excellent news. It's always difficult to begin, then all starts falling into place.
