Being the new person at a barn always made me uncomfortable. Everyone knows where everything is, and all rules and you don't when you're new. hehehe

This latest barn where my lease horse lives is very clean and the people are all very cool. This makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it?

I realized I felt most welcome when one of the ladies came up to me and said she'd been meanign to introduce herself, then she did. (how nice) At the last schooling barn, people didn't even make eye contact unless it was to bitch out someone who left their horse in turnout an extra 15 minutes. (geeze)

I'm liking this situation more and more lately. hehee Someday if I do buy a horse, I'll board there because it's so comfortable and mellow mentality. Know what I mean?

Yes, I know what you mean. I am soo lucky, all the liveries on our block are really friendly but not too over the top - we know when to leave each other alone:D :p I wouldn't like to leave this yard we're on. Our horses are so settled too. I guess if I win the lottery and can buy my own country estate then that would be a different matter........!:D

A boarder go up to the barn manager ranting "WHO left that horse in turnout?!" (There are twin turnouts, the other was empty) The barn manager said "Oh, I think she's in the back helping so and so, can you use the other one for a little bit?" She said "I SAID I want THAT one and get that THING out of there NOW".

Boy what a snot, not uncommon behavior there either. That was a cute gelding, no reason to refer to him as a THING. I bristled and I didn't even know the owner or horse she was referring to.

Made me happy I was just a student and we had right of way over all boarders. (since some students are new and maybe have a harder time handling a horse) The boarders could be real snits sometimes there.
