Hi, I've had my Ex racer TB since end of September. He was underweight when I had him and I am still struggling to build him up.
Have tried Alpha A oil, Speedibeet & Baileys #4 but he refused to eat the Baileys Cubes so have recently started him on Top Spec balancer with the speedibeet and Alpha A. He also has Veggie oil added and add lib haylage as he lives out 24/7.
Does this sound like a good combination? I ask advice at my feed supplier but end up walking away with a headache as there seem to be so many feed types

i have a TB who was very underweight when i 1st got him . I used Allen and Page 2calm and condition" to build him up slowly along with sugarbeet and molicop. I also included a wide ranging vitamin and mineral supliment .
This worked well for my fella and also helps kep the weight on my ID who cribs alot .
Hope this helps !!

Remember to give new feeds time. Horses will often turn up their noses at something new - this is a defence against toxic plants, they stick to what they know. But if you give them a chance and keep offering they've eventually get the message.
When offering something new - mix it in small quantities with their normal feed. If it does get eaten - just keep offering. Have some molasses on hand if its really driving you nuts - let him smell the new food to get used to it and add the molasses once you get fed up with waiting for him to eat ;) I've also found that adding a little fenugreek will often tempt fussy eaters.

Sounds good, do give it time to work. One thing I can think you could do to up the calories on that are switch to something like corn oil instead of veggie oil if you need extra. Linseed is also a good weight gainer but could make him a little fizzy, I also like Baileys number 1 really good for getting weight without fizz.

Thanks for the advice :)
He likes the Top Spec balancer in his feed (should do too for that price!) so I will see how he gets along with that for the next month

Also make sure you feed the recommended amount. I feed 500grams of balancer a day to my horse as this is what the feed company told me. Give them a call.
