I was picking out the hooves of my lease horse and a decent sized piece came away sort of. I was thinking this is probably nothing, but I can't explain what that is exactly.

Anyway, its like a piece of the frog (might have this wrong, it's the triangle shaped thing and I'm running along the outside of this. It seemed like a piece of this is still attached to the hoof, but almost like a flap of skin.

I'm gonna be embarrassed half to death if I made a big deal over something stupid. But better that than ignoring a problem if it were so.

PS: His hooves were trimmed two weeks ago and ferrier said there was no problems.

I'll see the trainer tomorrow, so she'll be able to have a look for sure. But wondered if I'm being silly. If that thing doesn't belong there, I'd best get it out. (believe I already have though)

If it's just a piece of the frog(which it sounds like it is) it's no big deal. If pieces continue to fall off it is, but just one little chunk falling of is nothing to worry about. :)

Yes it seemed to be a one time thing or not often. Since it was the only time in a month I had seen that.

I figured it was a common thing. :) Thanks for the reassurance.
