Have broken my leg. Can you believe it. Incredibly irritating. Crutches are the most exhausting method of mobilising - immense effort for very little forward progression.
Was doing canter work in the school- practicing for a dressage comp- when I smashed my leg against the post and rail around the school. Nag, bless her, stopped dead as I was being dragged off backwards and she was going at speed. Could have been quite nasty if I'd come off backwards.
Them what knows say I was giving her too much inside leg and being very responsive to the leg she obliged. Personally have no clear recollection of what I was doing.
When I next do canter work in the school I shall stay on the inside track.
Meanwhile I'm sitting here chewing the fat and being thoroughly irritated. L

Laetitia - I am so so sorry. What is more, I thought catching your leg on the school rail was not suposed to be possible? That is what my young teacher told me after I caught my toe doing a test away from home. She put it down to bad fence and me to my inexperience.
But if it happened to you, one of the most careful and knowledgeable riders I know, that sends a powerful message to the rest of us to take care. And you take care on your crutches. What can we all do to keep you amused over the next few weeks?

Well I thought you were enjoying life in Spain, good luck with your recovery L,
They say so many things are not possible,I seen a guy have a flying lesson once from horse back,it was awfull,so it was years before I canterd inside a school, felt much safer outdoors.
Never mind, keep warm and a little spirit never did anyone any harm;)

Ouch is right. I love your under-stated way of describing your broken leg as "irritating."

I'm so sorry to hear about the injury. I hope you heal quickly and are feeling better soon.

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and best wishes.
I shall be in trouble when I go back as this wretched plaster has got covered in mud and it won't come off. Tra la. L

Fred, I am off to Spain as soon as I have sold up here. L

Ouch. Irritating and frustrating is right. I'm recovering from a broken foot--that was nearly five weeks without driving, which was at least as bad as the not walking. I hope you can get around all right.

An update which is even more irritating. Went back for a review, thought whoopee get this wretched thing off my leg. NO WAY. They've stuffed another one on. I was wingeing on until the doctor said 'you're jolly lucky, these fractures are normally pinned, especially with this ligament damage as well. You've got away with it being treated conservatively'. So that shut me up, until I heard it might take 3 months. 3 MONTHS!!! L

I am so sorry Laetitia. Especially at our age that seems an eternity.
