I found this horse on a website for sale and it said that it is a quarter horse... I think that it's something else. What do you all think it is?

Oh, they also said it would be a good hunter/jumper... does this horse have that kind of potential? For some reason I thought that hunter/jumpers were tall and very muscular.

I would say he looked like he had some dartmoor in him

Here's pic of them

He would be a quarter pony not a quarter horse, which is just a smaller version of a quarter horse. He does not look like a quarter pony at all. I don't know what breed he does look like, but seeing as how you are in tennesse, it's a small chance he'll have exotic breeds in him. He looks like he would be very good at speed events, he is very compact. As for hunter jumper, I guess he would make a good childs pony, I would have to see him move. If the ad only says he WOULD be good for hunter/jumper, I'm assuming that they mean he has no training hunter/jumper and just looks nice. You would have to ask about that.

He looks to be more on the mustang end of the quarter horse aesthetic. Unless he's papered though, don't stamp him off as pure. If he's under 14 hands, he's definately not pure quarter.

Just.Jump-- Just because he is under 14 hands does not mean that he is not pure Quarter. At the stable I am at we have a purebred QH mare who is 13.1 hands at 8 years old, her sire was 15.2 and her dam was 15 hands. I agree that the horse pictured does not look like a QH, but it very well could be, I cant count how many papered horses that I have seen that looked nothing like 'the standard'

i thought his head looks a bit araby, but not sure. i agree with just jump, i don't think he is pure QH
he's quite stocky in his tummy area, so there might be a bit of native breeds in there
