Welsh Section Ds and Fells/Friesians are my favourite breeds. But I would like to breed Akhal Tekes as you don't really see them in this country... I'd love them to all be that gorgeous golden metallic colour! :D

If I ran a whole farm, I would breed drafts and draft crosses. I would really like to see what a baby from a Friesian stallion and Gypsy Vanner mare would look like.

Standardbreds and STBx.:D Not to race, but for pleasure riding. They're a massivly underratted and unknown breed who can turn their hoof at just about anything. As athletic as a Tb, with out the fizz, and much sharper and brighter than a warmblood;)

If I had unlimited amounts of money I would buy a big ranch so I could take in more of the horses that were bred with no place to go. :)

If I could choose only one, I would go with friesians. If I could have a small selection, I would add Clydes, as well as something else light.;

I agree:D Not sure what it is like in the UK but over here in WA we have a society just for STB showing:) Have considered breeding with Mysty to a STB stallion who just about wins everything on the show scene:)

I would like to breed friesians and have started by buying my stallion next year hopefully I am going to import three or four mares from the Netherlands:)

In reality, if I were to win the lottery, I wouldn't breed as there are too many unwanted and mis-kept equines in the world today. There's not exactly a worldwide shortage ...

In my dreams, I'd want a stud for an endangered breed or breeds.

I wish:rolleyes: I'd have said that 90% of riders have no idea what a STB is - considering there's almost as many as TB (in the US anyways), that's a bit pathetic;) Unfortunatly so many come off the track with so many problems (mental and physical) that they rarely make it to main-stream riding. And no-one breeds them for pleasure. When I looked into it I couldn'd find a single breeder in Britain who bred non-racing STB:(

I would breed the Donnerhall and Rubenstein I Lines. The off spring from those lines i have come to meet are top of the line with wonderful attitudes. We have one by Rotspon who is a Rubenstein off-spring who has been champion in USDF and USEF recognized shows since she was a yearling.

Oh, i guess the breeds would be Oldenburg and Hanoveran, lol. :)

I would have to say stick to my TB's or perhaps a TB cross. Perhaps a Friesian?

Maybe even some fancy QH, perhaps crossed with something? hmmm... basically I am trying to make a Jumper here, though a friesian? Or a CND Sport Horse.

1. Kerry Bog Ponies
2. Haflingers
3. Arabs

But really if I had the money I would breed Kerry Bog Ponies cos they are a rare breed.
A breeder from America bought some ponies a few years ago to breed and sell in USA.

I would love to breed, connemaras, full breds only though! I love them, best ponies ever as far as i am concerned!! They have got fantastic temprements and are always willing to please, try their hardest at everything you ask of them, fantastic little things and i must say terrific WHP (most of them)!! I would have to be picky also and say i would only keep grey ones!! lol!! :D I'd have to compete most of them too, either as M&M or WHP.

I would also like to breed fallabellas (sp?) just for the pure novelty value i think they are fab too!! :D :D

Yea totally agree slewgal the next horse I get will hopefully be a friesian! Wouldn't it be great to get a friesian mare and breed her once and back the foal yourself! :D I think thats what I want to do!

Trewsers
14th Jan 2006, 12:06 PM
Curly Bashkirs (spelt wrong prob). They are gorgeous and I don't think that common.:)

kyanya
14th Jan 2006, 01:10 PM
Definitely Fells. As well as the fact that they're gorgeous and can do anything, they'd also be cheap in comparison to other breeds because they could live out all year with their thick coats and no rugs.

If I had some land, I would just love to do that.

For me... it's a hard choice. I'd love to breed Irish Cobs, but I also adore the Westphalian warmblood.

For anyone wanting to live out their dreams, there are simulated horse clubs on the internet where you can breed and show pretend horses, and generally just talk about horses, and learn about different breeds.

I'm one of the admins for a large club, that has been going since 1997- and it's not just for kids, we have a vast age range of memberships, and many members in their 20s and 30s. It's a great fun club, and just relaxing, and a way to breed horses and own your dream without spending a penny.

The game is free to play - although donations are welcome if any member wants to donate, we pride ourselves on realism in all areas of the club, and also towards education. Membership can often take upto a few weeks to come through, since it's all done by hand.

But we do welcome new members, so if anyone does fancy, visit: http://www.hfshc.com

Alternatively, so this doesn't sound like just a plug for my own club - there are many clubs out there on the internet, some aren't as good - such as horseland, which lacks in realism and education, but there are automated realistic clubs that exist on the internet, although I forget the names, a google search on ''sim horse club'' will bring up results. Our club is mostly not automated but we do have some highly sought after automated features such as a realistic bank, programmed specifically for us, and a vet/farrier program.

Anyways, I'll stop the advertising - I just thought for people interested in breeding horses without the resources, it might be interesting! :-)
