I'd really like to be quallified to teach horse riding one day. I did my BHS stage one a few years ago as a working pupil as I thought that this was the only way to be able to become an instructor. I was originally put in for my stage two but I chickened out...I have very little jumping confidence and would just freeze on an unknown horse when pointed at a fence. The BHS route just doesn't seem like the best idea for me. Since then people have vaguely mentioned the ABRS exams and NVQs.
I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) that if you've completed an NVQ level 2 you can skip a couple of BHS exams and they're working on a teaching module so that eventually you should be able to do all of your instructor training via NVQ rather than BHS. Does anyone know any more about NVQs and becoming an insructor?
Also I know nothing about ABRS exams or any other routes to qualify as an instructor...can anyone shed any light on the subject?
