I've already posted a response to your message in the training of the horse forum but just wanted to ask when your test is? I have my first ever dressage test (prelim 12) at the end of the month.

When I did the prelim 6 I got 103 points and came 5th. It was only a small college show.
The answer to a good canter is to make sure the horse is using its hindquarters, sit back to regulate the pace and use loads of leg. Dont be tempted to lean on the reins. It takes practise to get a good canter for dressage, but its worth it when you do.:)

:) Hi Lis.
I just wanted to say that I've done two dressage tests over the years... I came second last on my own horse and last on one of my friends horses! :o :D But, never fear! I am doing fine now (going to Heathers as her new WP in a few days :p ) so however you do, don't take it too seriously! The tests I did were both Prelim 18. I enjoyed them ever so much, and couldn't be prouder of the remarks I got from the judges! ;)

Hi
First of all I'm new here and this is my first time.
I have had a long break from riding (nearly 20 years). I started riding again in August 2001. I am loaning a horse at present, hopefully to buy. I did my Prelim 18 on Saturday and my marks were 57.50% so I just missed qualifying. This was the first dressage test for my horse and I.
I was just so pleased I actually remebered the test as I had only practiced the week before.
My next test is in four weeks, so I hope to be better prepared :)

Hi Thanx for posting a reply. My next test is on Saturday (Prelim 6). On the last one our score was 56%. The highest in the class was 65%. My horse is just 6 and it was my first time 2. But we both worked hard and got through without going the wrong way or doing anything majorly wrong.
Thanks for your reply

Hi Lis
My horse is only 5 and at the moment I am trying to work on impulsion which she lacks alot.
I must start working on my circles as they were a bit hollow.
Let me know how you get on
Heland:)
