Heather

I live in Lincolnshire UK and there is a lady not far from me who actually gives lessons on a simulator. I have seen her at the local summer fair this year and wondered if it was anything to do with your way of teaching or are you the only one with your type of simulators? I would be very interested if she is teaching a 'kinder way to ride'.

Thanks and best wishes

HI Claire,

I had headr that someone in your area had bought two of the original simulators that i worked on with a company called Racewood Ltd, in fact I am sure that she came along to one of my demos at the Equine Event or BETA, but I have never taught her, and doubt whether she uses the same methods as me, because as far as I know, apart from my own assistant instructors and Julie Winchester in Sussex, plus another friend in Derbyshire, all of whom I have taught to use the machine, i have never come across anyone else trteaching in this way.

If I remember rightly, and it was the lady you mention, she looked pretty gobsmacked at what I was doing with the machine.I don't think that she could have copied what I was doing without me giving her detailed tuition.
Hope this answers your question.

Heather

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I think they probably are the same simulators as she does have two, one for walk and trot and the other for canter.

Does your friend in Derbyshire give lessons on her simulators? I have bought your book and am following the advise but it would be invaluable to me to have some proper tutoring. My hubby and I are supposed to be going on a weekend break and we thought of going to Derbyshire to do some walking (when the potato season is over actually as he is a hydraulic engineer for a potato harvester firm!!! ) If your friend does give lessons according to your teaching please could you let me know details - Many thanks for your time.

HI Claire,

Sad to say, my friend in Derbyshire does not give lessons on her machine. She is an equine scientist not a trainer, and has a fabulous Irish Draft stud. She bought the machine for her private use to rehabilitate her after a severe hip injury, when she was told that she would have to have a hip replacement. She bought the simulator instead, and is now hunting again this season!

See if you can get to the Equine Event at Stoneleigh in November. I will be there to give sessions on the machine over both days.

Joe,

Details that I have got so far are:-

British Equine Event 6-7 November 1999
At the Royal Agricultural Showground, Stoneleigh Park, Stoneleigh, Warwicks - Telephone 01203 696969. They have an excellent web site at www.RASE.org.UK/ (http://www.RASE.org.UK/) - hope this helps.
Heather will be on the Feedmark stand. The website features full programme of events for both days and even details places to stay.

Kind regards Clairev
