You may all know this but Borax will clear up thrush (in hooves!) - you can get it from chemists.

It's a natural mineral, dissolve 2 heaped teaspoons in a one and a half litre bottle of water (or two tablespoons in a bucket) and use it to wash the feet of the horse every day, i use an old brush or dishbrush to give a bit of a scrub down into the frog grooves. The thrush will slowly go away. It isn't instant but it does work. No more smelly hooves in the winter!

I have got it into open cuts and it doesn't sting, it is very a mild natural detergent and bactericide.

cool  TY

a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide is also good to get rid of thrush - i use an old syringe (minus the needle :) ) to squirt it in crevices.

I get peroxide free (hairdresser friend), and dilute it, and it saps thrush. Murphy and Coco have never had it, but Byron who i just bought had it, and within 3 days it's cleared up.

I didn;t know about the borax thing though.
