(at least for now!)
First a few updates:
Baby is not allergic to the animals, thank gawd! Turns out she has "moderate to severe" acid reflux disease that backs up into her upper throat causing the excessive congestion and apnea. She's seeing a specialist next Monday.
Secondly, Im working on downgrading my working hours to a part-time position. This will give me the much needed extra time to get things done. Im counting on it to relieve alot of stress!
Bonfire continues to amaze me. He has blossomed in himself since June and has been so trusting. He follows me through circumstances that would have had him crawling the walls back at the boarding stable. Im just so proud of him and had to mention it. We're still not riding (bummer) and both of us cant wait till spring.
I do have one question. I had family visiting this weekend (overnight) and they graciously offered to do all barn chores (they've helped out before). Foolishly, I let them and never checked on the boys (like I usually do). After the fam' gone home, I got a call telling me that they forgot to give the horses hay the entire time. They only got their grain. The horses seem alright, even though I bet they were super hungry. Is this cause for major concern and do I have to watch out for certain things now?

Sounds like things are starting to come right for you :) Sorry to hear about Grace but at least now they know what it is they can hopefully do something to help her, poor little girl, and I'm very relieved for you that it isn't the animals.

good news about grace too - at least it's not the horses and it is treatable, presumably? really relieved to hear it is not allergies.

Well that's good news! And a specialist referral will help set things right, poor little Grace, reflux is unpleasant.
As for the horses, we were clear of snow over the weekend here, if they are still on their pasture they could have grazed some to make up for the hay shortage.
Glad to hear from you, was feeling bad for you when allergies were a possibility.

Glad to hear that you have a diagnosis. My brother in law as a baby had a problem not sure if it is the same one but the valve which allowed food into his stomach was not working properly and he had to have a small operation to repair it.

Great news! Glad to see you can go part-time. Stories like yours have actually convinced me that I will not be going back after Duncan arrives.
I am sure two days without hay won't have any lasting affects since now tehya re getting their hay again and they didn't have any problems over the weekend.
Our neighbors were telling me that they expect their horses to eat dried oak leaves as part of their forage when they run short on hay... Okay one of their horses also colics a lot so don't try teh oak leaves... but I am sure 2 days is fine.
We had some less than super hay for a couple of days and in effects it's the same (since they didn't eat it).
Poor, poor baby Grace! AR is no fun. No wonder she is still smallish. Let us know what kind of treatment plan they come up with!

Smart girl! I love my job and fully expected to not have any issue with being a working mom - but then I looked into those blue eyes... AND working 8 hours, commuting 2, having to cook dinner AND do stalls at night just gets to be too much. Im glad you wont have to go through that. I wish I would have been smart enough to see that its a hard thing to make work.

It breaks my heart. She's in so much pain :(
She seems small but she was born at 5.13 (and almost one month early) so has alot of catching up to do. Doc says she's actually in the 50th percentile height and weight wise. One things for sure, we're getting alot of use out of the baby clothes! She's still wearing some of her *newborn* and 0-3 month clothes! :D
nutkin, thats an option they are going to explore. She's so young yet though that they're going to wait it out some more to see if the flap will mature on its own in time. Until then though, she's only on baby Zantac to manage the pain. :(

My little porker is on the 98th percentile  and is fast outgrowing her 0-3 months clothes and she is only 6 weeks! But she was 11 days late and born at 9lb 9...
Poor little soul I do hope she feels better soon.

See, all those NR vibes DO help!!!
I am so glad to hear you are feeling better about it all, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Poor little Grace, but at least now you have a specalist to help get things sorted, our thoughts will be with you on monday.
I'm sure the boys will have been fine, sometimes that sort of sudden change in diet can bring on things like colic but that would have happened right then, not now that things are back to normal.
Best wishes
