my girl has got dried on poo all down her back legs, it wotn come off however much you brush it, baby wipes wont get it off either.
im a little worried about using cold water (thats all weve got unless i take up barells of warm water)
when i got her last year she had the same, i spent 2 hours washing it off, and she wasnt particuly happy about it.
anyone know a good spray, or conditioner that will soften it?

Two words, Mud Buster. It's gets anything off including dried poo I found out the other day after Grady getting ever so excited on a hack and pooing down his legs, nice! It's inbetween a metal curry combe and a brush

Id say your best bet is to use some warm soapy water. could you not take some in a tea flask or something similar. that will soften it and it should come off easy.

if you spray something like show sheen on her legs (after you have removed to poo) iy might help to stop it sticking on again.

has she got diorreah?

i dont think its diorreah, her poos are normal, but do get sloppy if she gets excited or nervous. it just seems to be all down her back legs.
i wonder if its to do with the fact she used to be a broodmare, she looks a bit dippy and odd under the tail!

I haven't found a way yet other than an hour with warm soapy water and a pair of scissors for the really stuck on bits. But as mentioned on your other thread using a probiotic has totally cleared up my boys runny poo problem.

well if you at all worried, ask your vet. if she had dorreah all the time, then you would need to consult your vet anyway, as it can easily lead to dehydration. also if she is scouring it can easily burn the hairs and skid on the legs (not very nice!)

but some horses do it when they are excited or nrevous, i think its a natural reaction. i suppose you just need to keep on top of it.

Not the nicest of situations - sorry !

A good tip I was given for removing poo and mud is to put baby oil in a spray and spray them all over several times a week. It makes it alot easier to brush off. I would use the hose pipe anad then either leave her in on a deep straw bed overnight or else bandage them to dry them quicker before turning back out. We use cold water with our horses legs and it has never had a bad effect on them.

shes on rubber matting and shavings. and we dont have a hosepipe, just a water butt.
im worried about using cold water on her as she gets cold easily and shivers off her weight.

My arab gets that all the time. He doesnt have the runs he just is a messy pooer. I use something called a Majik Blok or a grooming stone to remove the dried poop. It works great
