I know that unsoaked hay gives my boy a cough how concerned should I be about this? The other night I gave him some soaked hay and haylage and he ate the hay. He gets haylage out in the field so that's maybe why he's taken to hay again. He is on shavings as I think straw is too dusty. Is there any other sings I should look for in case he is developing a problem? When he rolls his breathing is very strange almost weezy any thoughts?

Anyone? Should I be giving him hay at all?

this may be something to mention to the vet when he comes to do charlies teeth. Bonnie developed a sort of wheezing, rasping cough and irregular breathing a year or so after we got her and she'd developed COPD (or ROA to give it its new name ;) ) due to dusty hay and straw. is he bedded on shavings? i'd keep giving him soaked hay and haylage and speak to the vet :)

doh, just seen he's on shavings.

Mine is the same, she is coughing at the moment as I dont soak hay when so cold and icy.

Haylage helps :)
